The government has had do make some of the toughest economic decisions many of which have not gone down well with the populace. 2012 has been singled out by the head of the CBI as the year the UK must do what it takes to finally rebalance its economy. This will be a challenging task to say the least.

This he believes will help put growth on the right path. There are no easy solutions, according to Cridland, when considering long term growth and the difficult decision must be made now and action taken right away.

The company that produces the well known Blackberry smartphones is incurring significant losses in 2011. Despite the expectations that the company would somehow grow in the current recession, their products seem to lose the sympathy of the world consumers. The company is in a state of serious unpopularity after its smartphones and other devices and services underwent significant problems and some serious criticism from both consumers and experts. Additionally, the strong competition is shrinking the market share of the Canadian industrial giant.

Reason number one why Blackberry is ill performing is because they failed to maintain satisfaction of the market demand. Millions of dollars were consumed by the company to develop already well established applications and services such as BBM and the corporate email services. Thus they failed to invest capital in developing more smartphone-like applications which we can find in iPhone, Android and new Nokia devices. The company has lost nearly 3 billion dollars from consumers that have switched the mobile device recently from RIM product to a competitor. The app market of Blackberry remains a strong reason why many consumers switch the technology - it is incomplete, lacks applications which users seem to be most attracted to and does not provide any gaming experience at all.

Additionally, the company is suffering from a serious deficit in terms of competitiveness. Its new devices resemble its old ones and consumers do not really see the difference. The failure to update software often is also a contributing factor as users are seeking more advanced software features. The market now demands not only innovation in technologies but also some serious software support and regular updates.

The competition, from Apple and Android as well as the reviving Nokia, is already gaining force with its latest innovations in terms of software and hardware capabilities of their devices. Failing to catch up with these trends endangers Blackberry - after all it is not only the email that people are interested in when using their devices - they are looking for more advanced and more serious services as well as new, interactive and completely different applications from what Blackberry is currently offering.

RIM might also incur some interesting reputation problems after corporate people realized that their BBM is not working properly recently - thus City workers might actually bring accidents at work claim against the company simply because the service is quite essential for the business people which conduct business on the go while on their BB smartphones.

The financial world is an impressive place. In the last 50 years it’s gone from being paper-based to being entirely digital. Now, thanks to technology, funds can travel at an impossibly fast speed. One moment your money can be in Hong Kong – the next it can be safely in a bank in Switzerland. Before the week is up, every single week, millions of financial transactions take place. When you think about it, it sounds like all those involved in the financial sector have complete control over what they are doing.

while data is indeed transferred to different servers on a daily basis, that isn’t to say that it’s easily taken off them and put back where it belongs

Except there’s one grim reality which many companies face each and every week: loss of data and information. Regardless of the cause – human error or machine malfunction – the result is pretty much the same: vitally valuable data is lost forever and never recovered. Although those in IT can solve many data-loss problems, they can’t solve them all. Which is why you seriously need to think about how you back your information up!

Talking about this now, in 2011, seems a bit strange. Most people are aware that secure shredding of documents is essential…so why are so many people falling into the not-backing-up trap? We think it’s simple: because technology is so advanced, we’d guess that most people just think that it’s easy to retrieve data. And, while data is indeed transferred to different servers on a daily basis, that isn’t to say that it’s easily taken off them and put back where it belongs…

Here are a few handy hints and tips for you to ponder:

Use a USB stick to back up vital data. Or you can use a removable hard-drive. Use ANYTHING and keep an eye on when and where you are backing your data up.

If you have massive amounts of data to back up, consider using a company who specialise in just that. You’d be surprised just how affordable they are, and besides: would you rather lose all your priceless information or pay a few dollars? There really is only one answer to that question.

NEVER rely on one person to back information up: this is a classic problem and something which many people are unfortunately guilty of. Also, just because you have an IT department doesn’t mean you are invincible! Always remember that if you lose clients'data it reflects badly on you and your growing reputation. Nobody wants to have to call a client to tell them this has happened, right?

Every time we open the newspaper these days we find ourselves reading about immoral businesses or greedy individuals doing the wrong thing for a quick buck or two. There’s no doubt that something’s going on in the world and the way that we do business: the unscrupulous seem to abound, no matter where we look.
It’s no reason, then, that things like data cleaning services have taken off like a jet-powered rocket. Data cleaning services can be used for good or for evil, but as with anything it depends on who’s using them, and why. These types of services may be used by companies to keep everything on the straight and narrow, or by others to keep things neat and tidy, but of course these might not be the only reasons behind using a service like this.
Businesses are looking to keep things in order these days because of the vastly increased amounts of data out there as well as the fact that audits and external assessments are so much more common than they used to be. And if you can keep your company in good stead, then why wouldn’t you?
In fact, companies today invest in plenty of digital options to keep everything squeaky clean, and to help manage their data. With today’s globalised world and the amount of information out there, it’s no surprise–resting on your laurels when it comes to this sort of things simply isn’t an option. But with technology changing every day, who knows what kind of digital solutions are going to become available!

President Barack Obama vested all financial considerations of his country in a number of well qualified, portfolio analytics, specialists in investment, bonds and debt trade who needed to conclude packages that would save the economy. But this was all in 2008 and in 2011 it seems that it has all undergone a major change. The same economic cataclysm hit the States after its failed recovery managed to somehow produce some results.

But every story has an ending and it hurts when it is bad. This is happening in the US where the funds deficiency in the private sector due to the dollar currency disturbances, the collapsed markets and the extortionate traders at Wall Street are forcing people to abandon business development and strive for their salvation. This is why many businesses in the States are enforcing shortening measures to cut down personnel and thus preserve some money for darker days. The number of unemployed in the US is increasing with 8,000 almost every day since the collapse of the markets a few weeks back. Slowly, a percentage higher unemployment has been generated and this tendency is till to continue for the next 3-5 weeks.

Even more disturbing is the fact that along with unemployment, consumer confidence that slightly increased a few weeks back, is again falling down thus forcing more businesses to effect shortening measures to preserve some activity on the market. Whether the US would find a way out or it would struggle to recover by itself like an organism from a slight virus, is yet unknown - the consequences from this lack of awareness are, however, seen on the streets of the country where thousands of people are losing jobs daily.

The search engine giant did it all perfectly smooth. While companies talk for years about future plans, Google, quite unexpectedly and hardly discussed with the media, acquired Motorola handset business for 12 billion dollars. The deal was closed under still unknown terms but Google Inc did not definitely need a business loan - such a purchase is hardly anything from what the value of Google would become after it incorporates all of its features over Motorola phones.

The first feature of such a deal is quite clear and easy to predict - the search engine giant has now insured its optimal power as a technology company with acquiring an absolutely developed handset maker. Motorola has the technology, the capacity, the facilities and the resource (both technical and human resource) to produce phones. Google, on the other hand, has the complete advantage of its Android software and quite competitive marketing strategies to promote Motorola especially on the American phone device market. Thus, a brotherhood between the two companies is only formal simply because both are already working over the Motorola devices for years.

The second, and quite more important, feature of the deal is that Google just got more room to develop itself in the war of technologies with other tech companies. With the acquisition of Motorola, the search engine company is making a step forward to proving it is still in the quite beginning of its journey to the top scorers of mobile technology. Presumably, by acquiring Motorola, Google would incorporate more features of its software and web experience thus slowly making the phone another major competitor for the world mobile device market.

Apple Inc., the second most valuable company in the financial world, is making its opponents suffer on the markets - however, it is now progressing against them in the courtrooms too. After engaging in lawsuits against Google, Microsoft and Sony, the California-based company finally won one of its major suits - the one against the South Korean giant Samsung. Claiming that the design and some of the hardware specifications of its iPad have been incorporated by Samsung in their tablet Galaxy Tab, Apple succeeded to prove so in a lawsuit in Switzerland.

The consequences of the decision in the court are devastating over the business activity of Samsung in Europe. The sales of Samsung tablets were barred in all of the EU except for Holland where a separate claim has been borough by Apple on the same grounds. Samsung products can no longer be supplied to major market destinations like the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy. Furthermore, official stores in Austria and Denmark where Samsung is presenting its tablets were fined for not excluding the products from the offers of the stores after the decision of the court.

The impact for Samsung is quite significant - the company is losing millions every day from unrealized sales to retailers and the consumers from the public have no access to Samsung tablets. Furthermore, the company is now losing its loyal customers and fans since its reputation decreased significantly according to the Forbes online magazine.

A proposed solution to the problem might be a settlement with Apple rather than an appeal against the strong opponent. Let us all hope that Samsung would not be quickly looking for commercial letting agents to reposition its business activity in Europe - without Samsung the financial and technology world on the old continent would not be the same.

With news appearing on The Telegraph website that Vodafone have received a long awaited dividend of £2.8 billion from Verizon – its US joint venture – it seems the mobile phone giant is ready to take a big stride in the market once again. Vodafone has not received any dividends since 2005, a problem that has not allowed the operator to grow its business as much as it wanted to over the past six years.

Shares in Vodafone have risen 5.53% since the announcement with many pundits expecting this to rise even further in the coming weeks. The dividend will prove to be a big relief for many high street Vodafone retailers whose fortunes have been looking increasingly grim over the past year. The recession had not been kind to the retail sector and many mobile phone operators have been closing stores to reduce costs, transferring a good portion of their sales online. The dividend will allow many shop workers to breathe a sigh of relief as Vodafone will now be looking to invest in the business rather then strip assets. Considering that only four months ago share prices in the company had dropped following worries over its deal with Daisy Distribution, one has to admire Vodafone’s strategy.

Financial experts have been speculating on what kind of changes will come in now that Vodafone had more to invest. Many agree that with the new Ofcom ruling taking effect in the UK partnering a European ruling on high mobile roaming charges, Vodafone would do well to consider adjusting their marketing to attract more business and personal travel users. By reducing the roaming prices sooner rather then later, Vodafone could get a jump on its competitors and snatch away custom from 02, Orange/T-Mobile and many others. As Chief Executive Vittorio Colao has only just announced the dividend, it will be a few weeks before more concrete information over Vodafone’s strategy becomes clear.

In the meantime other phone operators are beginning to look over their shoulders. With Orange and T-Mobile now owned by the same company, concern over Vodafone’s stance won’t be in the higher realms yet, but they will be watching closely in the coming months. 3 have been relatively quiet since the announcement and have yet to make a comment. 02 have got other things to worry about with pressure to cease advertising with Newscorp outlets on the increase following the mobile phone hacking scandal which has dogged the Murdoch owned group in recent months.

Whilst this is all going on, smaller service providers and operators have already begin their assault on stealing market share with companies like abroadband taking advantage of the current gap over roaming charges. Changes in law and an unstable economy should prove to be a test for the mobile phone industry in the coming months, but it looks like Vodafone have placed themselves in a good position.

I get very amused when people claim that they will stay away from credit cards and other such facilities throughout their productive life. Well, that is like saying that you will not use your legs because of the risk of falling down and hurting yourself. Remember, you do not fail when you fall down. You fail when you do not get up. Not using credit facilities properly does not make you bad at finances. Not learning from your mistakes is what is going to make bad at finance.

Contact any professional financial adviser and he or she will tell you to embrace the concept of credit. Such persons are not paid by credit card companies to market credit cards. Rather, such persons identify the fact that credit cards are here to stay. If you want to buy a house, you will have to go in for a loan and deal with credit. If you want to drive an automobile, you must prepare to get a loan. If you want provide best education to your children, you should be open to the idea of obtaining credit. How are you going to convince lenders to offer long term loans if you do not know how to handle a short term loan?

Lenders will quickly discover that you are scared of loans and credit facilities. In such a scenario, you may end up on the losing side despite having the qualification necessary to manage the loan. Instead of being defensive all the time, you can adopt a proactive and sensible approach which is a mix of caution and aggression. Learn to master credit. Once you succeed, you will never have to fear it again.

Dubai grew significantly strong and confidently advancing in the last decade. However, the recent problems of the emirate made it not the best place for investors. The unreasonable game of money that the ruler of the state has imposed over the business is now proving to have been the worst decision for the country since the Arab financial crisis over 30 years ago. Some say that he has consulted a financial adviser with engineering degree rather than a real professional before the crisis. And whoever said that might have been quite right.

The problem with Dubai started almost 5 years ago when the problems of over-investing led to an increased intake of products in the state. The people over consumed what was offered and the economy kept increasing in value faster than the healthy rate. Billions were wasted in infrastructure projects with no potential and just that much was used in satisfaction of massive and not that profitable projects. The business was earning foreign money from tourism but the income generated was quickly spent on new projects. This is how Dubai went into debt.

Currently the state is struggling to pay off debt. Even some fuel deliveries were not directed to the country simply because there is no funds to pay this fuel. Deliveries of construction materials. workers and consumptives are all frozen until further notice because the business cannot afford maintaining employment of foreign specialists and labor. The Dubai problem is worsening with the further complications in the Arab economies where revolutions and new regimes determine a new Arab political behavior and Dubai might soon face even tougher measures so that its debt repayment is ensured.
